Why Everyone Should Study Physics
Foundation for Everything
I came across a tweet from Brian Norgard where he said, “The smartest people in most every field have a physics backgrounds.” This made me rethink.
Take Elon musk, for example. He said that if he could restart college, he’d study physics, along with a broad range of engineering and history.
Naval Ravikant had the same answer; he would study physics if he had to start over.
Why? Because physics is the foundation. Once you understand physics, you can learn anything. Physics is simply the search for truth. It’s about understanding what’s right and what’s wrong, without any biases.
You can combine physics with any field to create innovative things because it's the foundation of everything. Learning it will broaden your perspective and give you a deeper understanding of nature, which is essential for innovation and continuous progress.
“All of physics is either impossible or trivial. It is impossible until you understand it, and then it becomes trivial.” — Ernest Rutherford
That’s why everyone should learn physics, and it should be taught in a way that highlights its beauty and relevance to all fields.
