“The things you own end up owning you. It’s only after you lose everything that you’re free to do anything.”
You buy a house, a bike, or a car, and now you’re going to spend a significant portion of your time maintaining them and keeping them looking nice. Basically, you’re using your energy and effort on something that has no real meaningful value, considering the limited time we have on this Earth.
No wonder some smart people wear the same simple clothes and live simple lives. For them, freedom is the highest currency.
