Does Eating Less Make You More Productive?
(One of the craziest blog posts I’ve ever written and a crazy experiment too)
I was reading about Nikola Tesla and he used to drink mostly milk and eat light food, and the same with Newton, he would almost forget to eat.
And it’s the same with monks, sages, and ancient philosophers and scientists; they mostly ate light food, avoided food during the daytime, and ate in the evening.
One pattern I noticed here is that it’s okay to eat anything in the evening, because we usually don’t work much at that time, and then you just repeat the same process again.
My Personal Story:
one day I ate just light food because I was too lazy to cook, and I expected to feel lazy and grumpy all day.
But I was shocked that I didn’t feel like taking a nap that day, even though I usually do. I felt sharp, and whatever I was thinking, I was thinking precisely and clearly.
At first, I didn’t care about it. Honestly, I’m too lazy, some days I just eat tea, bread, or random fruits. But slowly I started realizing: did I actually find a secret? And then it hit me, many productive people used to do this.
I’m not saying you should go completely out of your mind and stop eating anything for a week. My point is: eat something simple and light from morning until evening. You’ll finish most of your important work during this period, and after that, whatever you eat doesn’t matter, because you’re going to sleep anyway.
And there’s a whole science behind it too, you should probably search here and there and confirm. Anyway, the point is: when we eat light, our body uses very little energy for digestion, and that remaining energy goes to the mind.
This technique is specifically for those who sit in their room all day, want to be productive, and are preparing for exams. You probably shouldn’t try it if you’re doing heavy physical workouts or if your work is mostly outdoors.
Just my personal experiment, see if it works for you too! Thank you so much for reading!
